The center and council are not without genuine concern for some native species; and this action is not wholly without merit. However, I wish that the council’s and the center’s concern for native species would extend to the Paiute cutthroat, the world’s rarest salmonid, whose recovery these two groups blocked after ignoring peer-reviewed data and, instead, sucking up the rantings of a crackpot chemophobe. The council is now under new leadership--John Kober--with whom I’ve been in touch re. the council’s superstitions about rotenone. I am hopeful that he will steer the outfit on a more rational course.
Best,
Ted
