The last week of October and the first couple of days of November, I hunted ducks and geese in North Dakota this year. In years past, the migration was underway. However, two years ago, and again this year, the birds were still up in Canada. We were in shirt sleeve weather, but we got to see thousands of sandhill cranes and we got in some really great pheasant hunting. In addition, a lot of the potholes were dry. It is not a good time on the northern plains states for waterfowl or for people who make a living from the sportsmen and sportswomen who hunt them. The practical effect was that the lodge owner with whom we usually stay is rethinking his business.
