the genisis of this problem is the 'game farms' that are importing diseased animals from the Western states. Recently an owner had his entire herd destroyed by the State since they were ALL infected with CWD. This happened after the owner tied up the proceedings for 4+ years in court while he and the deer continued to spread the disease. Instead of being made responsible for creating a public health hazard and then required to pay for the damages, the State paid him handsomly and apologized for their actions. How pathetic! If you or I would put something into the food supply chain that could potentially kill the people that eat it, we would be arrested and thrown into jail in a blink of an eye. Now, to be reasonably sure that the deer you hunt are safe to eat, one needs to have the meat/brains tested at a laboratory. How much different is this than having to go through searches at an airport because of terrorists? A tiny, tiny number of people create huge problems and walk/dance away with fists full of dollars.
I live in Wisconsin and enjoy hunting and fishing.
