The Michigan Department of Natural Resources issued an order declaring feral pigs an invasive species. Under this new listing, the animals would not be allowed at canned hunts. The order goes into effect this July, and the DNR has said that it would let canned hunt operators kill the pigs currently in their possession.

The Shark Free Marina Initiative Calls For End of Recreational Killing of Sharks in U.S. Waters

WASHINGTON (May 31, 2011) — The Shark Free Marina Initiative released statistics showing that recreational fishing of sharks in the U.S. has contributed to the devastating decline in shark populations worldwide. Up to 73 million sharks are killed world-wide each year in commercial fisheries, mostly for their fins.

Tulotoma Snail on the Road to Recovery

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today reclassified the tulotoma snail
from endangered to threatened under the Endangered Species Act,
declaring the snail is making major strides on the road to recovery.
