Nez Perce Tribe releases lampreys in Wallowa River

Despite the ignorant comments on this link, the Nez Perce are right. Lampreys on both coasts are an important part of marine and freshwater ecosystems. Sea lampreys are native to Lake Ontario, Lake Champlain, and the finger lakes. The Welland canal gave them access to the upper great lakes where they wreaked havoc. The Nez Perce have a long tradition of environmental enlightenment.
