Submitted by Ted Williams on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 20:30.In the release below these alleged sportsmen's groups praise the House interior bill. Remember that this is a bill that guts most of the nation’s conservation program, including cutting the Land and Water Conservation Fund from $256 million to $66 million, although, yes, some of that $66 million is earmarked for access. Of course these groups were silent when we got the $50 million Open Field provision in the Farm Bill, which is 100% dedicated to access. And had these groups worked for the LWCF provision in the transportation bill, we could have gotten $1.4 billion for LWCF and mandated that 1.5% of that be for public access projects.

Submitted by Ted Williams on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 11:34.WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Center for Biological Diversity today sent a letter to House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings claiming their organization had only received $553,000 in taxpayer funds resulting from Endangered Species Act (ESA) related attorney fees and court cases. This claim conflicts with data obtained from the Department of Justice (DOJ), which shows over $2 million in taxpayer dollars have been paid out to the Center for Biological Diversity and their attorneys for cases open between 2009-2012.
