An ESA Coalition Warning

This from the ESA Coalition: Senator Chafee fears the Endangered Species Act could be “Pombo-ized” In an article published last week, Senator Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) said that one of the largest obstacles facing the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in their discussions of possible Endangered Species Act legislation actually comes from the House side of the Capitol. "The bottom line is there is a new word in the English language, and that word is 'Pombo-ized'," Chafee said. "Any discussion of ESA has this word, because anything we do here will be reconciled with the House." Senator Chafee’s concern is that a Senate bill would inevitably be severely weakened when conferenced with Representative Pombo's Extinction bill.
