I disagree with the author about striper recovery being a “success story.” We only manage fish we’ve nearly wiped out. I call it less of a “success” than a second chance. In addition, I have major problems with striper management today. We’re killing off most of the fish as soon as they hit legal length. Evidence even suggests that we are selecting for small fish. This disease may be brought on by lack of bait in the bay. The fish are skinny and stressed. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/10/AR2006031002416.html?sub=new
