University of NH Large Pelagics Research Center Director. Dr. Lutcavage will be showing and discussing her latest footage of tagging, First results on movements and behavior of juvenile bluefin tuna returned by"X-tags". Along with the current state of the fishery worldwide.
Walt Golet and Ben Galuardi of the University of NH Large Pelagics Research Center
Will be presenting historical trends in conditions, distribution, food habits and forage relationships of Atlantic bluefin tuna. Video footage will be shown during both presentations
Chris Weiner and Ralph Pratt – The Traditional New England Harpoon Fishery:
The Weiner family from Perkins Cove Me and the Pratts from Green Harbor Ma have over 50 plus years of experience in the Harpoon fishery in New England. Both have many years of experience on the water and have spectacular video footage of this traditional New England fishery in the Gulf of Maine and Cape Cod waters. They will be discussing their techniques in this fishery along with their thoughts on the current state of the Tuna fishery here in New England.
Shawn Joyce –Recreational Angler F/V Compadre
Shawn Joyce an average recreational angler from New Castle NH will present how he went from catching 1 Tuna in 2008 to over 30 Tuna in 2009. Shawn’s presentation will include a discussion and video on tactics and tackle from the recreational angler’s viewpoint on this great new England fishery . Shawn started out in a 20 ft Hewes flats boat and now fishes out of a 23 Regulator.

There will be raffles and an auction to benefit Dr.Molly Lucavage’s Research.
There will be Tackle displays and a chance for everyone to learn and ask questions about this exciting fishery along our coast
Seats are limited to the first 180 attendees – this has been a sellout every year.
