Dick Cheney lauded for “his gleaming eyes,” etc.
(Warning: Do NOT read this if you have recently eaten.)
Below are a few excerpts from the recent issue of The American Fly Fisher, publication of the American Museum of Fly Fishing, which recently hosted a dinner in Washington, D.C. to honor Dick Cheney, thereby applying green lipstick to the most vicious enemy of fish and wildlife of our generation. (Conservation, explains the museum, isn’t its business.) For eight years Cheney personally presided over unprecedented destruction of native ecosystems across the United States, but especially in the West. The damage caused to trout streams and other habitats by “the Darth Vader of Fish and Wildlife,” as Cheney has come to be called, will take decades to heal, if it heals at all.

“…a Grand Hyatt ballroom was filled with enthusiastic museum supporters gathered to welcome ardent fly fisherman and former two-term vice president Richard B. “Dick” Cheney. The mood inside was bright...”
“…His familiar reticence gave way to gleaming eyes and bright smiles as he discussed the people and places of fly fishing…”
“…A quick thumb through any of the major Cheney biographies will show numerous references to fishing and how it was an integral part of this highly accomplished man’s life….”
“…Several attendees had the opportunity to engage in pleasant conversation with Mr. Cheney, and one could immediately sense his unbridled enthusiasm for the sport we share in common…”

Here’s my question for the museum and members who participated in this obscene pole dance: During Cheney’s reign could you also “sense his unbridled enthusiasm for the sport we share in common” as he systematically destroyed trout habitat all over the West by implementing an industry-designed energy policy that can be best summarized as: Extract as much gas and oil possible, as fast as possible and at ANY cost to fish and wildlife?

Dick Cheney
Right on, Ted. Had I been there, I would have promptly placed a pie in his face.
That man is a human catastrophe.
The AMFF needs new leadership.
Even the exhibits at the museum are disappointing. Back when Bill was running the AMFF they had awesome exhibits and were conservation minded. Bill Bullock was even the State Chairman for TU at one point and was a major voice for the Battenkill.
The current leadership has run the museum into the ground. They even had to cancel their fundraiser at the Fly Show because they couldn't get enough people to show up for it.
Btw, the theme to that cancelled fundraiser was "Open mic night for fly fisherman". One more example that they are out of touch with fly fishing.
Karaoke + Fly Fishing = lame
Honoring the most hated person amongst conservationist = Stupid.
