Even the NYT recycles the horse mafia’s lie that feral horses are “descendants of United States Cavalry horses, workhorses and horses brought here by Spanish settlers.” Absolute, unadulterated bull sh….! The vast majority are recently abandoned or escaped livestock. They are no “wilder” than the cats in my uncle’s barn. Horse Mafia Pooh-Bah Suzanne Roy makes the first and only truthful statement I’ve heard from her: “There needs to be a more humane way, a more cost-effective way of managing these animals.” That way is euthanasia. Most of these sad animals are unadoptable; and they are starving to death on range that can’t support them and can no longer support wildlife because of the damage feral horses do to native habitat.
