The Managers
These managers who are allegedly doing such a great job managing our striped bass looked me in the eye in the early 70s and told me there would always be “plenty of bass for both recs and coms.” Then no one caught bass for 20 years until Congress stepped in. There is no “commercial” striped bass fishery in Mass. It is a recremercial fishery. You send in your lousy $90 and you can slaughter 30 breeding-age female bass a day. It’s a grotesque charade, and it needs to be abolished.
