Hatch Fanatic Twelve Plus

Hatch has a very sweet new reel called the Fanatic, hot off the presses.  It makes use of the same Hatch drag core which has been in the line from the start, but for the first time it is available all the way from the size 1 (appropriate for 2 and 3 weight rods and light as a feather on up to the 12Plus (a monster which would swallow literally a mile of backing).

Internally, the reel is identical. So far, all I've been told is that the price points will be similar. Essentially, just the cutouts on the frame and spool are different.

Although the Nautilus is a very nice reel, I think most people all along have felt that Hatch reels are better. For the most part they are more expensive so they should be better. I don't think Hatch gave one thought about Nautilus here and essentially the only thing changed on this reel are the cutouts on the frame and spool. They got it right in the first place and aren't going to tinker with the guts of the reel.

Very nice reels and the best thing are the results they provide. Smooth drag and very, very well designed and engineered!
