If you haven't yet heard of Tyler Befus, you certainly will over the next few years (and decades to come…). Tyler is a crack angler--he holds two IGFA junior world records and is the youngest member of the Whiting Farms, Ross Reels and Rio pro staff teams. He's a fly designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants and he also has a book coming out this fall. Not bad for an eight year old.

You can meet Tyler and dozens of other professional fly tiers from across the globe at the 2006 International Fly Tying Symposium held November 18-19 in Somerset, New Jersey. This year's theme is "East Meets West" and will feature some of the West's best tiers--including A.K. Best, Ed Engle and Bob Jacklin--as well as notable tiers from the East Coast and beyond--including Jack Gartside, David Skok, Don Bastian and overseas tiers such as Theo Bakelaar and Paul Whillock.

In addition to the professional tiers, more than 50 manufacturers, vendors and exhibitors will be on hand showing off new gear and techniques and offering some of the best deals of the season for tying supplies. There will also be a discussion on the science behind the breeding of high-quality hackles.

FR&R is again sponsoring the Symposium, so stop by our booth and say hello.

For a complete brochure with directions, events, times, classes and a full list of professional tiers attending, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the International Fly Tying Symposium, Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Champion, PA 15622.
