When you think of the R. L. Winston Rod Company, a couple things immediately come to mind: green fly rods, tradition and high-end performance. But the folks in Twin Bridges, Montana, want to become synonymous with something else: fly-fishing movies.

The company recently re-launched its Web site with video content as a major feature. Besides providing entertainment value, Winston's Leslie Clark says the idea is that the short films will help draw new participants to fly-fishing. "We'd sure like to get some new people involved in the sport. Our goal is to get as many people as possible involved in fly-fishing."

The Web site features a broad range of videos--from trip footage shot by Winston owner, David Ondaatje (who is himself a screenwriter and director), to behind-the-scenes shorts from the Winston factory.

Winston is also hosting an online video contest in which viewers can submit short films of their own. The films will be reviewed by a panel of judges, and the creators of the top films will receive prizes and awards from Winston. In order to jumpstart the contest, Winston is giving away free hats to the first 100 people who post videos on their site. For more information, visit www.winstonrods.com
